A group of otters were sunbathing by the shore when they saw a flock of tired-looking gulls resting nearby.
“My birdy friends, are you guys going somewhere?” asked the friendly otters.
“We are migrating,” answered the leading gull. “What are you guys doing?”
“Ah, nothing. We are just enjoying the sun and the life,” cheered the carefree otters. “Why don’t you guys join us?”
“Us?” the gulls looked at each other.
“Yes, why can’t you lie here in the sun with us and feel the breeze and the warmth while you nap?”
The otters then waved at the gulls and raised their martinis.
“Naps?” The gulls got curious. They had never heard of such things.
“Yes, the most wonderful thing in the world,” eulogized one fat otter with a big belly.
“And the best time in one’s life,” another stalky otter agreed.
“We never had naps,” replied the gulls. “But, wow, it sounds like such a marvelous thing.”
“What?” the otters were shocked. “How could you never have napped? Everyone naps.”
“Well, we are always told to keep flying,” a younger gull of the bunch whined nervously. “We are always flying. Never a moment to enjoy life.”
The rest of the gulls seemed to share the sentiment and nodded.
“That’s so cruel and unfair,” the otters were furious. “Well, friends, just stop flying and nap with us. You all deserve freedom and happiness.”
Persuaded by the friendly otters and the dreamy idea of sweet naps, the gulls decided to cancel their original migration plan and stayed for a better life.
